Are You Struggling With Gymnastics Injuries In Northwest Suburbs Of Chicago?

A Message From Dr. Chrissy Davis, Owner & Founder of Precision Performance Sports Medicine
- Are you tired of being told to “stop gym” when you bring your pain up to your physician?
- Are you frustrated with endless stretching and foam rolling and still feel tight, limiting your flexibility in splits and leaps?
- Do you feel tired, frustrated, and maybe even a little down about your inability to participate with your team or compete at the level you want?
- Are you frustrated with being unable to apply your coaches corrections, or not being able to get a skill, no matter how hard you try?
- Are you still looking for a long-term solution so you can get back to gymnastics without pain?
- Just push through it because it’s part of Gym and you don’t want to let your team or coaches down.
- Just “rest” and it’ll be fine (then the second you get to the gym again the pain comes right back).
- “Why don’t you just stop gymnastics” (you and me both know that isn’t happening!).
- If you take some anti-inflammatory meds everything will be fine.
- “Just deal with it” and it’ll reside if you just foam roll, stretch, needle, or massage the painful area.
The Truth Is...
- Resting it doesn’t change anything. You might get a small temporary relief, but then when you get active again you’ll still be suffering from gymnastics injuries (I bet you’ve already experienced it!).
- You don’t have to stop gymnastics!
- The inflammation your physician is telling you is the cause of the pain is just a by-product of a movement or activity issue, which requires a movement solution!
- Pain pills are addicting, dangerous, and can cause a lot of other problems with your body.
- The pain you’re experiencing needs to be addressed and resolved and “just deal with it” isn’t an option.
“At Precision Performance Sports Medicine we specialize in helping gymnasts train and compete pain-free while optimizing their skills and longevity in the sport while reducing their time off from Gym.”
- Your coach tells you to try ice or heat when your pain “flares” up
- A colleague mentions going to a massage therapist
- The “experts” on YouTube or Instagram recommend doing a certain exercise
- A teammate suggests doing a specific warm up
- All while your physician tells you to just rest and maybe take some anti-inflammatories
It’s overwhelming to try to make a decision with all these choices…what will happen if you don’t make the right one?
Most people get stuck trying to make a decision about what to do next. They go days, weeks, months (even years!) without taking action.
When It Comes To Solving Something Serious Like Gymnastics Injuries…
You must choose the right provider for your health. If you don’t, you could end up training and competing in pain for no reason or worse, you could end up getting dangerous surgery (when it was unnecessary) or being dependent on addicting painkillers the rest of your life.
Getting the “least-invasive”, most natural treatment is VITAL to you stopping your pain and keeping it from ever coming back. Additionally, addressing the root cause will allow you to be a stronger and more resilient Gymnast and help you progress to the next level!
To do that, you have to not just treat the pain, but have a provider who is willing to figure out WHY the pain happened in the first place. That’s when you’ll get a PERMANENT solution to your problems.
At Precision Performance Sports Medicine we’ve created a 3 step process to get rid of your pain AND make sure it doesn’t come back again.
Step #1 - We Want To Listen To Your Story
Our medical system is frustrating. You wait weeks, sometimes months, for an appointment, only to get to talk to the physician for 10 minutes before they have to run to the next patient and you’re left sitting there wondering, “What just happened?”
Even most physical therapy clinics operate this way. They’re not attentive, they’re fast-paced, and your therapist doesn’t have time to actually touch where you hurt.
This is why our first step is to listen to your story.
After working with lots of people with injuries and pain from gymnastics, we know that no two people are alike. Each person has a different body, a different history, and different types of pain.
That is why our first step is to have an open conversation and time for you to tell your story. That way we get a deep understanding of what’s going on not just with your body, but also how it’s impacting your life.
Step #2 - Find Out WHY The Pain Started
Many gymnasts have a diagnosis, or medical term for what’s going on with their body. Maybe their physician gave it to them, maybe tests showed the diagnosis, or maybe you found it online.
You could have been told that your only choices were to rest, push through it, take some anti-inflammatories, or change up your training.
Sometimes, those things bring temporary relief, but they’re not addressing what CAUSED the problem in the first place.
Every person’s cause of pain is different. No one has the exact same problem caused by the exact same thing as another person. Most pain is a by-product of a movement or activity issue, which requires a movement solution.
Our goal at Precision Performance Sports Medicine is to find that original cause of your pain, so not only does your pain go away, it STAYS AWAY! And once the pain is gone, we work with you to address those skills and techniques you struggle with to make you a stronger gymnast overall!
We understand that you still might be skeptical or unsure if physical therapy is right for you. That’s why we created a taster session.
Our Discovery Sessions are meant specifically for those gymnasts who are skeptical, unsure, or have even been let down in the past. During the Discovery Session you’ll find out what’s wrong with our Functional Gymnast Assessment, how long it’s going to take to fix it, and give you peace of mind that your problem can be fixed naturally!
Step #3 - Get Rid Of The Pain & Keep It From Coming Back
This is when the big transformation occurs. We develop a personalized plan that allows you to…
…get back to gymnastics without fear of the pain and stiffness coming back.
…be able to apply your coach’s corrections easier.
…perform at your best and keep pushing yourself to do better.
…nail down those skills and techniques you’ve struggled with for years and ascend levels.
…get back to the pre-injury lifestyle you love.
The Gymnasts we LOVE to work with are those who are motivated and ready to ELEVATE their gymnastics beyond their wildest dreams – without pushing through the pain! (Even if they feel stuck right now!)
Want to know more about our availability and costs before making any commitment to coming in?
You don’t have to sacrifice the sport you love or limit your gymnastics potential over problems that can be fixed.
Sincerely,
Dr. Chrissy Davis, PT, DPT, OCS, ATC
What Other People Just Like You Are Saying About Precision Performance Sports in Northwest Suburbs Of Chicago...

"If driving 40 miles one way for my daughter to be treated by Dr. Chrissy Davis doesn’t explain how much we love her, I don’t know what will. My daughter, Ella, is a gymnast who has had her fair share of injuries over the years. And as any parent of a gymnast knows, is that even after our gymnasts have healed from an injury, there is usually some permanent damage we can’t see (both mentally and physically). "

Stacy
"My son Jameson is a multi-sport travel athlete who loves all things sports. He barely stops to stretch, let alone recover, but he also never complains, so I knew when he repeatedly mentioned his legs hurting that I needed to take him seriously. We saw Chrissy who was very quickly able to assess that he needed to lengthen and strengthen his muscles both before and after his practices..."
